De-addiction Ministry Activity Report

Implementation Report

1. World Anti-Drug Day – Keeranur Town

The World Anti-Drug Day event was successfully conducted on 26th June 2024 in Keeranur Town, engaging 1,500 participants from various sectors, including local schools, the police department, the judiciary, and NGOs. This initiative created a strong social impact by raising awareness about drug abuse and reinforcing the importance of preventive measures.

The event was conducted at both the province and local levels, emphasizing the social experience dimension of youth ministry.

2. Ilamai Youth General Body Animation – DBYV Keeranur

On 20th July 2024, the Ilamai Youth General Body Animation took place at DBYV Keeranur, bringing together 65 youth leaders and their Youth Service Coordinators (YSCs) from across the province. This program provided a platform for youth leaders to engage in discussions, strategize for future activities, and strengthen their leadership skills.

The gathering served as a vital opportunity for youth ministry, focusing on social experience as a core dimension.

3. Ilamai Youth Animation – Lourdes Shrine, Madurai

The Ilamai Youth Animation program was successfully completed on 10th November 2024 at Lourdes Shrine, Madurai, under the zonal category (Madurai Zone) with 55 participants. The session focused on planning strategies to enhance youth participation and leadership within the Salesian framework.

Challenges and Adjustments

Although the Madurai Zone animation was completed, the other two zones could not be addressed due to unavoidable circumstances. However, to compensate for this, Ilamai extended an invitation to JANANAM to animate their leaders and YSCs together at the General Body Meeting in July 2024.

This alternative approach helped ensure that the objectives of the animation program were partially met.

Completion Percentage

Despite the challenges, the overall completion of planned programs stood at 77.67%, reflecting substantial progress in executing the initiatives under the youth ministry framework.
