Alaihal Media is the Social Communications wing of the Salesian Province of Trichy (INT), dedicated to using media and technology for social transformation, evangelization, and youth empowerment. Inspired by St. John Bosco’s vision, Alaihal focuses on spreading values through creative communication and digital platforms.

Introduction

Don Bosco Alaihal Media (DBAM) is a well-established media centre in Tamil Nadu that focuses on education, empowerment, and social transformation through media and communication. With a strong commitment to digital evangelization and media literacy, DBAM provides training, production, and outreach programs to empower individuals, particularly youth, through creative and technical skill development.

Brief History of Don Bosco, Manikandam

Established in 1995, Don Bosco Alaihal Media started as an alternative school before evolving into a leading media centre. Over the years, it has expanded its focus to include social communication, media production, and animation, supporting various educational and social initiatives. The centre plays a vital role in promoting media education and awareness, ensuring that young people, especially those from rural backgrounds, gain opportunities in the creative industry.

Don Bosco Alaihal Media Activities

DBAM engages in a wide range of media-related activities, including education, professional training, and community outreach. Through its structured programs, the centre fosters critical thinking, creative expression, and technological proficiency among students and professionals. By integrating traditional values with modern digital tools, DBAM aims to create an informed and empowered society.

DBAM’s Five Operational Wings

  • DB Media Academy (DBMAC): Offers diploma and certificate courses in photography, graphic design, video editing, and web development.
  • Alaihal Media: The production wing, responsible for videography, photography, and digital projects for evangelization and social awareness.
  • DB Animation Centre (DBACT): Provides leadership, faith formation, and pastoral animation training for Salesians and educators.
  • Alaihal Media Clubs: A network of student-led media groups promoting media literacy and creative engagement.
  • Alaihal Publications: Publishes books, magazines, and digital content for faith formation and social advocacy.

DBAM conducted professional training in web development, graphic design, sound editing, photography, and video production. These hands-on programs helped students gain practical media skills and boosted career readiness.

DBAM documented major events and produced documentaries, music albums, and promotional videos. These productions aimed to highlight social causes and preserve meaningful narratives.

Smart Liturgy Initiative

A digital evangelization project offering weekly sermons, psalms, and reflections via social media and WhatsApp. It makes spiritual resources accessible and relevant in the digital age.

Climate Change Mitigation Project

Through its “DB Green Trichy” campaign, DBAM raised environmental awareness and promoted sustainability through social media and educational outreach.

Graphic Design & Publications

DBAM created posters, banners, and digital content for schools and organizations. Alaihal Publications released books on spirituality, education, and the environment.

Website Development & Maintenance

The centre managed websites for institutions, focusing on SEO, navigation, and digital archiving to boost online visibility.
