Coimbatore Don Bosco Anbu Illam aims to create a child-friendly society where every child, regardless of background, lives in love, care, and protection within their own family and community. The vision includes building a society that values equality, social responsibility, and child-centered development supported by conscious community efforts.

Mission

  • Make government and systems accountable to children’s rights.
  • Ensure implementation of child-friendly laws and welfare schemes.
  • Network with NGOs and government for advocacy and policy changes.
  • Support at-risk children and families through integral development programs.
  • Create a model township with children's parliament, police, and court systems.

History

From its inception in 1991 to the present, Don Bosco Anbu Illam has grown from a shelter for street children to a multi-program organization, including shelter homes, training centers, and community outreach. Key milestones include the launch of CHILDLINE 1098 in 1999, vocational centers, and tsunami relief efforts. Directors like Fr. Anand, Fr. Santhanam, and others contributed greatly. DBAI’s work spans decades of advocacy, education, and rehabilitation for children at risk.
